Ramble ramble ramble. Blah blah blah. How much of what we say is actually remembered? Everyone’s always trying to get a word in; everyone’s always trying to get the last word in. Why though? Everyone says they love to listen and help people, but how many people actually listen? How many people do you think genuinely sit there and sort through the things being said to them and ponder them? Many people hear what is being said to them, but they do not listen. In the midst of the things being said, they are devising their answers; they are working on their stories, comebacks, scenarios, and advice. They are too busy thinking about what they are going to say that they completely miss what the other person is trying to tell them. Hence the plethora of “hmmm”, “seriously?”, “Oh no”, etc. If we all spent a little more time listening and a little less time hearing maybe the world would be a more peaceful place. Just a thought I was playing with today.
“Wise men, when in doubt whether to speak or to keep quiet,
give themselves the benefit of the doubt, and remain silent.”
